So, technically speaking, this is not a very good photograph. I was in a dimly lit room with a weak telephoto lens and trying not to flash and disturb the mood of the evening. Still, these moments were a highlight of my weekend trip to New Jersey and I wanted to post something to remember by. The sitar is such an interesting instrument and it sets a very ethereal mood (which was also supplemented by the equally fascinating tabla). There were about thirty people in this room that was lit only by sparsely scattered desk lamps (on the floor). The band and the majority of the audience were on the floor, perched atop pillows and throw rugs, for an amazing two hours of music.
Anyways, here’s a poorly-lit, grainy snapshot which in no way does justice to the wonderful experience I had that evening with the band, Aradhna.
