Although the unfortunate COVID-19 pandemic continues to linger, I am pleased to be showing my work in the Phoenix Arts District once again for my first gallery showing since the 2020 lockdown began. I’m honored to be showing alongside two talented artists, Joanna Proffitt and Natalie Wheeler.
Most of the work I am exhibiting in this show is from my older Abstractions series. However, I am excited to put these images in front of a Phoenix audience once again. This work represents my first major breakthrough as an artist searching for my own voice. When I first showed this series with curator Nicole Royse at monOrchid’s now-closed Bokeh gallery in 2015, I was a new and unknown name the Phoenix art scene. Now that I’ve been consistently engaged with the Phoenix art community for the last half-decade, I see it as a chance to once again highlight this work that I am still proud of, even though it is an extreme visual departure from my current work.
Through The Lens: from Architecture to Abstract opens First Friday, September 3rd with an artist reception from 6-10 pm at Sisao Gallery. The show will be up for the month of September 2021 with a closing reception on Third Friday, September 17th from 7-9 pm. If you plan to head downtown for First Friday, be sure to check out the Phoenix New Times September First Friday Guide.
