This is my last image from this session (those of you following my Instagram feed (@johnnyhifi) probably already saw the iPhone version of this same scene). I am very pleased with the resulting images. I almost always find myself (when doing portrait work) giving the model direction for specific poses or expressions but just about every time my favorite images end up being the candid ones that happened in-between all that. This shot here was taken when we were waiting for the sun to move. Natalie had been doing some awesome toe stands (see: Tough as Nails) and her feet were getting sore and tired. She sat down to take off her shoes and massage her feet a bit and immediately I recognized a wonderful photograph. This was not posed and as such conveys (for me anyhow) an authenticity that is not found in posed portraits. Must do more portraits!
