This photograph is another from my trip to the Musical Instrument Museum a few weeks ago.
This image is (title and all) quite appropriate. I am currently half-way through a three week teacher induction program for the Glendale Union High School District and I’m feeling the stress of the first day of school approaching. Don’t get me wrong; I’m very excited to start my career as a high school art teacher but the last few weeks have just been really intense. My brain is mush. I am physically and mentally exhausted
As I approach the first day of school I am both anxious and excited. Right now I’m feeling stretched a bit tight as I think of all that is yet to be done to prepare my classroom and plan for the first weeks of school while simultaneously finishing up coursework for my teacher certification courses at Rio Salado College (which I should finish sometime this Winter I hope). At the same time I feel the adrenaline rush of something new just over the horizon and I am anticipating the challenge that awaits me. In some ways the career change is still sinking in. Right now I’m just Johnny Kerr, future teacher. On August 15th I become Mr. Kerr, Photography Teacher, Independence High School (ready or not!).
